3) drag theas_pluginloader.rb file and as_pluginloader folder into the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder. on a mac, after the file is loaded, right-click in the plugins folder and choose ‘open’ and it will be available to use (however, you cannot yet access all the files in the folders.)

4) open theas_pluginloader.rb file and find the lines that look like this:
as_pluginloader.load(‘/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins/as_pluginloader.rb’)
as_pluginloader.load(‘/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins/as_pluginloader/as_pluginloader.rb’)

5) in theas_pluginloader.rb file, locate the following lines:
plugin_home = ‘/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins’
plugin_lib = file.join(plugin_home, ‘as_pluginloader’)
pluginloader.configure do |config|
config.plugin_home = plugin_home
config.plugin_lib = plugin_lib
end

if youve made the 3d model in sketchup, the plugin loader plugin will be looking for theas_pluginloader.rb file in the sketchup plugins folder. if it cannot find it in the sketchup plugins folder, the plugin loader plugin will not be able to find the 3d model. this is because sketchup works like this:

a sketchup file is only allowed to be opened in sketchup if the file is stored in a sketchup plugin folder. on a mac, the user_profile folder is used for user plugins, so files from the user plugins folder can only be opened in sketchup if they are in the user_profile folder. if they are not in the user_profile folder, the plugin is not allowed to be opened.

in the “uninstall a plugin” section, you will need to delete the plugin loader plugin from the sketchup application folder rather than from the library folder. all the python files will be stored in the sketchup application folder and you should not need to use any “copy python paths from..” path to get them installed.
as for the plugin loader plugin, i was able to get it to work the first time (using theolder version) by creating the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins/ folder. then, for any sketchup application i had running, i opened the plugins window and right-clicked on the python folder and then selected “copy python paths from..”. i then pasted the new path into the library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins/ folder. it was not so simple to do this every time i open a new sketchup application, so i created the following version of the python script that automatically creates and populates the library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins/ folder.
in the case above, you have to reference the /library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder in the plugin loader plugin to make it work, since sketchup doesnt create the folder structure for plugins. in order for the plugin to install, you have to use the sketchup 2014 command-line to create the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder structure and then deposit the as_pluginloader.rb and as_pluginloader.rbz files into the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder.
as a bit of a caveat, the plugin loader plugin wont install into any other sketchup 2014 installation besides the one it was originally installed into, unless you create the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder and reference it. if you want to install it into a sketchup installation, you can either use the sketchup command-line to create the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder structure and then deposit the as_pluginloader.rb and as_pluginloader.rbz files into the/library/application support/sketchup 2014/sketchup/plugins folder, or you can use the sketchup > preferences dialog to check the box to allow plugins to install into the sketchup installation (either for all sketchup installations, or just the one youre using).
