This is a shooting game set in a camp which appears to have been abandoned. The player must find their way around the camp and shoot all the creatures that attack them as they try to make their way back to the exit. We’ve gathered about 200 girls on the break of August 13th for the fifteenth annual Escape Camp Waddalooh. The Camp encourages campers to challenge school-based values and cultural norms that they are often taught by the society around them. The founders and co-directors of this Camp, Janet Reno and Eliza Ross, want the campers to “break free from the prison their young minds feel trapped in.” Our hope is that through our hosts’ successes and frustrations, they will offer a lens into seeing areas of increasing segregation in today’s society–and then finding a way to subvert them.
The campers proceed at a brisk 8:30 am with four other groups up to the camp. The first group of nine girls arrives at the camp at 8:55 am:
I don’t know when my last blog was. I suspect June or July. It was the month of June last year in 2018 that Kevin Guppy came to lecture at Stony Brook. The decision was made with great hopes.
