Itsuki suggests that the purpose of the experiment is to bring forth the god within each diary holder. He says that they are the ones who control the God. He is surprised that Miki is a person filled with hate. He says that the experiments are more than just the powers of ten. He wonders what happened to the three other diary holders. He says that the Survival Game is one where the person who controls the God wins. If he loses the game, it would mean that Miki wins and will become the God of Earth. He says that the object is to see how many of the characters die. He says that the God is nothing but the individual. He says that the experiment is to show that if one wants to survive, one must become a better person. If he is to become a god, everyone would have to become evil. He says that the first diary holder would be him. He is the only one who can live a normal human life.

Yuki began training as a shaman to prepare herself for when Kaname woke up. She practiced strong magick in secrecy, even after Zero revealed Kaname’s strange attitude to her, and set out alone into the wilderness near Kiharu Castle. Her magick was strong, but she was unable to focus on it as Kaname called her, surprising her with his appearance. After she told him she felt happy, he kissed her, and then one thing lead to another. They fought off slayers who had also appeared, however, Kaname refused to leave, and used his abilities to comfort Yuki. He then continued to dwell on her emotionally, and caused her to revert to her memories of living with Kaname. Yuki initially wanted him to leave and be happy with her, but was concerned Kaname would reject her if she became a vampire.

Chihiro Amigooru confesses his love to Mikuru Takane at E-city’s Ten Festival. With another person able to control Amigooru’s hypnotic powers, Chihiro tells him that he’s the perfect choice as a husband. Chihiro and Mikuru then have their wedding ceremony at E-city. During the end of the year exams at Suzuya, when everyone else except for Yuki is preoccupied with their exams, Yuki and Kaname’s have a battle of their own. Yuki overhears that Kaname is living in Kowloon and becomes his disciple. As a result, Yuki is able to go there and rescue Kaname who has an injured foot. Afterwards, Yuki tells him that he’s leaving Suzuya and moves into his own apartment in Kowloon. After learning that Daidou, the owner of the restaurant, made his real wish, Yuki proposes to Chihiro, thinking that if she can make Chihiro love her unconditionally, Amigooru will be doomed.
Yuki and Yuno attempt to escape through a sewer but end up colliding with an improvised explosive device which they have to pass through to exit. The two continue to escape, but Minene begins to shoot the doorway with her pistol. In the process, one of Minene’s bullets hits Yuki in the head, knocking him out. He awakens in the hospital, where he sees his other self lying unconscious in bed. He picks up his phone and discovers his name is written on it. The two decide to resolve the paradox by killing their other selves as first-person male and female and then finding the shooter. Minene starts shooting at them again, but Yuki blocks the shots with his own body. He telepathically senses Yuno’s whereabouts and leaves the room to find her, but after getting attacked by a SWAT team, he retreats into the hospital.
