“I can’t say I didn’t get on with the game for a multitude of reasons. I think it’s fair to say that as a fantasy RPG, this one is pretty good. Especially for the time. I still think it’s the kind of game that would have been amazing if it was released today – I kind of feel like I’m playing a new Zelda today, in fact. In terms of the presentation, the graphics are nice, the characters are at least somewhat likable, the plot and dialogue are generally consistent with what you’d expect from a fantasy RPG at the time, and while the main character may be a bit cartoony, the enemies look like the sort of fantasy creatures that I’d expect to be fighting the player. At least they look like something that wouldn’t turn the player’s stomach. So as a ‘cross-game’ for Zelda fans, for as good as it is, it’s a little sad to see. (Twilight Princess, anyone?) I guess that’s just the power of nostalgia, though.”

) ELDEN RING, which allows up to 12 players and two man-hunters to coexist in a large-scale battle in one server, began accepting applications from players! The application period was first closed in March 2018.
Players who were accepted into the application period were divided into one of two groups. The first group was offered the opportunity to create custom characters (
) in addition to existing characters, and the second group was given the opportunity to create custom skins. Then, starting with the next day after the start of the application period, the game’s servers opened to test the creation process. Players who had created custom characters and skins gained access to a special permission when they logged in, allowing them to access character creation content during the first trial period. During this time, players shared their creations and gave them feedback on both the quality of their creations and the game’s policies. During the test period, the custom character creation and skin creation systems were improved. After adjusting the difficulty level, players were allowed to access content which was only available to people who had successfully applied during the application period. Meanwhile, starting on the date that the trial period ended, custom character creation and skin creation were completely opened to all players. With this update, all players will be able to experience the many features in the ELDEN RING game, including custom character creation and skin creation, regardless of whether they applied for the application period or not. Additionally, in the final update on May 24, players who created a custom character or skin in the application period will be able to share them with others through the Guild, a new social network feature. We hope that you will enjoy and be inspired by the creations of players from around the world!
Application Period
We are offering applicants a chance to become a test candidate for the creation process, as well as the chance to become a test participant for character creation or skin creation.
Applications are limited to 30 applications per applicant. The applicant pool will be opened gradually to take into account the number of applicants. We will notify applicants on the dates of the application pool opening and for the duration of the application period. Applicants will be notified of their selection through a special in-game mail. It’s important to remember the time you used that magic wand. Looking at how you look and feel then is of a most important part of our game, as well as future updates. With this in mind I’d like to take the opportunity to tell you about the status of the “Mixed-Gender” feature in the game today, now that we’ve reached a larger engineering team and can operate more efficiently.
A while back I reported that we were going to begin internally testing this “Mixed Gender” mode, but there was a problem. FF’s immersion has meant that regardless of your preference, or even your sex, you were always able to play without anyone really noticing. The “Mixed Gender” mode is a long term project that deals with the issue of how a person’s look — in this case the appearance of your avatar — effects your relationships and how you are able to interact with others in this game. It goes far beyond our norm to make a game that players are going to enjoy.
I want to understand how you feel about this feature. What kind of things do you like, or dislike? What areas do we need to improve on? And what would you like to see added or fixed?
