Icom Serial Number Year Of Manufacture
I am a radio owner from Canada. I purchased my IC-7300R2K in January of 2005. It is serial number 67321. It is a US model with a good solid feel when held. I am pleased with my purchase. When I first received it I wanted to send a few emails to Icom. I just wanted to make sure that the US catalog was correct. Well, I had my dealer send me a large envelope. Inside was all the parts for my radio including the manual.
We are very happy that we can extend the warranty on the IC 7200. I have a IC 7200R2K and my warranty from the factory began on 4/30/05. For the past 4 months, my radio’s serial number has been 65288. After the 4 month warranty period expired, I went in to the Radio Shack store and they told me that the warranty would no longer be honored. I took the radio back to Radio Shack and they put in a call for the warranty department. In a couple of days the warranty was being honored. I was very happy that I could now get the four plus years of warranty from the factory.
Why does IC-7300R2K serial number 67321 have an upgraded/renewed warranty that begins 4/30/05 and now cover 4 more years? It’s current manufacturer’s warranty expires 5/30/08. The IC-7300R2K does not have a set serial number since it is referred to by the manufacturer as the IC-7300R2K. The serial number is only assigned to the radio after it has been sold.
